We cannot recommend the skiing more highly. It is varied, picturesque, often challenging. The skiing in Les Crosets is great for all levels of skier. Skiiers can enjoy some of Europe's longest tree-lined routes into silent valleys or tackle some of the continent's most infamous runs, most notably La Chavanette, more fondly referred to as 'Mur Suisse' (Swiss Wall), a 1km vertical drop of 400m at 50 degree inclines over huge moguls. The slope is classified in the Swiss/French difficulty rating as orange, which means that it is rated as too difficult to fit in the standard classification of blue (easy), red (intermediate) and black (difficult).

The Portes du Soleil are yours to explore as are the thirteen resorts you will encounter along the way, most notably Avoriaz (the self-proclaimed capital of snow-boarding), Morzine, Champery, Chatel and Les Gets.

The skiing in Les Crosets is great for all levels of skier, and although that sentiment usually means that experienced skiers are slightly hard done by, this is not the case with Les Crosets. The black runs in the area are absolutely fantastic, including the infamous Wall run. There are 18km of cross-country skiing trails, as well as some fantastic off-piste skiing to be enjoyed.

The experienced instructors at the Swiss Ski School await beginning and advanced skiers and snowboarders alike for lessons and guiding (off-piste, backcountry, racing). The school is particularly good for children. Each day you will meet your instructor in the main area where the ski lifts meet. For more information, visit www.funschool.ch or call +41 (0)24 477 29 00.

For snowboarders Les Crosets is home to one of the best parks in the World with kicks of all sizes and different jibs. It is also home of pros Romain de Marchi, Jules Reymond, and Trevor Andrew who you can sometimes spot improving new tricks on the biggest kick of the park (25 meters of flat). Les Crosets on a good powder day will give you your dose of backcountry, because the terrain is just perfect for it. See www.superpark.ch for more information.

To add to this there are 18km of cross-country skiing trails, as well as some fantastic off-piste skiing to be enjoyed.

Be sure to stay energetic on Wednesdays because the slopes between Champéry and Les Crosets stay open till 9pm for the ever-popular night skiing.

For those of an extreme disposition, there is paragliding, organized by The Paragliding School of Champoussin, the first official paragliding school in Switzerland.

Maybe after a long day you may feel like relaxing in the Thermal baths in the nearby mountain hamlet of Val d'Illiez, with its mineral-rich spring water and beautiful thermal baths with an indoor and outdoor pool. Or you could relax aching limbs in the chalet's very own sauna and steam room.
